Tapahsthalam signifies that 'Tapah' means to make yourself strong through hard practice and 'sthalam' means the place where you practice and become strong

Code of Conduct

  • Everyone must remove their shoes before entering the Tapahsthalam. Personal belongings are to be kept neatly in designated areas.
  • Students should bow towards flags when entering and leaving the Tapahsthalam.
  • Students should always bow before and after speaking to the Instructor or senior students, and use terms of respect such as "Yes, sir (or ma'am)".
  • If a command or correction isn't understood, wait for an appropriate moment, and then politely ask the Instructor to clarify or explain.
  • If Praguruh enters the Tapahsthalam, the senior student will call attention, and everyone should turn towards him to bow and greet.
  • Students should not face the Instructor or the flags when adjusting their uniforms (Veshah).
  • Students should observe common standards of hygiene, keeping their uniform and body clean, and nails short.
  • Students should move quickly to line up and should stand at attention to await the Instructor's commands.
  • Profanity, obscene gestures, unnecessary roughness, or loss of temper are strictly prohibited.
  • If accidental contact is made during training, students should stop and bow to one another as an apology.
  • Loud conversation, laughing in excess and other horseplay have no place in the SHASTRANG school.
  • No jewellery is to be worn in the Tapahsthalam. Smoking, chewing gum/tobacco, eating, and drinking are also prohibited.
  • Leaning on walls, sprawling on the floor, and other slouchy behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Never be disrespectful towards the Instructor. A student must first follow instructions and then discuss any disagreements later.
  • All belt promotions must be authorised through your Chief Instructor, Regional Director, National Headquarters, or chairman of the board examiner, Praguruh Bikram S.Thapa only.
  • Always remember that what you are learning is a potentially deadly martial art. SHASTRANG students are never to initiate violence and must conduct themselves responsibly and courteously both inside and outside the TAPAHSTHALAM.

Rules for suspension


  • Students, instructors and officials can be suspended on behalf of their misdeeds done against the rules of Shastrang.
  • There will be 3 chances given to stop their suspension.
  • If a student, instructor and official are found guilty, he/she will be suspended after 3 given chances.
  • Only the founder will have a right to suspend them.
  • Suspension will be on the grounds of their level of mistakes.
  • After 3 suspensions, they will be terminated permanently. They will not be members of Shastrang anymore.
  • It should show the number of suspensions on the portal.
