Shastrang, the Indian modern martial art, has been making waves in Chhattisgarh as it continues to empower young girls with self-defense skills. Under the Project Rani Laxmi Bai Atma Raksha Prashikshan Programme, which is a part of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan by the Chhattisgarh government for the year 2021-22,

a staggering 105,100 girl students from 35,048 government schools have been trained in this martial art.

The primary objective of this initiative is to equip girls with the necessary skills and confidence to protect themselves in any adverse situation. Shastrang, with its roots in ancient Indian martial arts, incorporates various techniques and strategies that are effective in self-defense. It focuses on empowering girls to be self-reliant and capable of defending themselves against any potential threats.

The training program, conducted in government schools across the state, has garnered immense attention and support from both students and parents. The enthusiasm and interest shown by the girls have been remarkable, as they recognize the importance of learning self-defense in today's world. The program has not only provided them with physical skills but has also instilled a sense of confidence, courage, and empowerment.

The Shastrang training includes various techniques such as strikes, kicks, blocks, joint locks, and throws. Additionally, students are taught how to assess potential dangers, identify vulnerable areas of an attacker, and use their surroundings to their advantage. The training also includes mental and emotional conditioning, teaching girls how to remain calm and composed during stressful situations.

The success of the Atma Raksha Prashikshan Programme can be attributed to the dedication and hard work of the trainers involved. These trainers, who are experts in Shastrang, have been meticulously teaching the girls, ensuring that they grasp the techniques effectively. Moreover, the program also emphasizes the importance of regular practice and encourages girls to continue refining their skills even after the training is over.

The impact of this initiative goes beyond just physical self-defense. It has created a sense of empowerment among the girls, boosting their self-esteem and transforming their outlook towards life. By equipping them with self-defense skills, the government of Chhattisgarh has taken a significant step towards ensuring the safety and security of its female population.

In conclusion, the Shastrang training program under the Project Rani Laxmi Bai Atma Raksha Prashikshan Programme has proven to be a game-changer in empowering girls with self-defense skills in Chhattisgarh. By training over 105,100 girl students in government schools, the initiative has not only imparted physical skills but has also instilled confidence, courage, and empowerment among them. It is a commendable step towards creating a safer environment for girls and women in the state.
